FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How do I prepare for my first session?
Preparing for your first session will ensure that the process runs smoothly.
- Read your consent form carefully and ensure you complete it in as much detail as possible.
- Ensure all the prescribed medicines you are currently taking are listed on your consent form.
- Ensure you allow extra time to locate the offices, as your appointment will start promptly at the scheduled time.
What to expect in the first session:
Therapy is a space to speak freely about thoughts, emotions, relationships, or experiences that you may be struggling with. You have the right to expect a space that is non-judgmental, respectful, and confidential. In our first few sessions, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy and start to look at how your current struggles might be shaped by past experiences, your environment, or patterns that feel stuck.
How long are your sessions?
Individual sessions are 50-60 minutes. A longer session of 90 minutes can be scheduled if needed.
Couples sessions are 90 minutes for the first session and thereafter between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the situation.
Pre-Marital sessions are offered as a programme, comprising 5-6 sessions and centred around a questionnaire completed online.
Family therapy sessions are 90 minutes.
Payment Options and Medical Aid:
As I am a cash practice only, sessions must be settled at the end of the session. This can be done by EFT or by credit card. My rates are in accordance with Medical Aid Rates.
You should be able to claim this amount back from your Medical Aid, depending on your plan. I am affiliated with all the major medical Aids. If you are planning to claim from your medical aid, please ensure that your medical aid plan covers psychology sessions prior to booking your session.
